As per CBEC Order No. 3/2013 - Service Tax dt. 23-4-2013, the last date of submission of the ST-3 return for the period, Oct. 2012 - Mar. 2013 is 31st August, 2013. To avoid congestion and inconvenience in the last minute, all assessees are hereby advised to start e-filing the returns immediately and not to wait till the last date. Online filing of Service tax return at ACES website has not started yet. so you have to prepare return in offline(Free excel utility for service tax return for the period 10/2012 to 03/2013 available here) ,mode and then upload the XML file at ACES website.
A step by step guide to upload service tax return XML file at www.aces.gov.in
1 Steps to upload XML to ACES Application:
Step1: Login to Application www.aces.gov.in as Service Excise Assessee.
Step2: Click on Menu RET>E-Filing for Return>Upload File
Step :3 Fill following details:
Return for the period: Select the period for which return is being filed.
Financial Year: Select the Month of filing return.
Step 4. Submit the form after selecting the XML file by browsing.
4.1 :If Return uploaded successfully then following message will be shown.
4.2 In case of Invalid XML or XSD Validation gets failed following screen will appear.
The status of the XML file of ST-3 return uploaded by the assessee can be ascertained after one business day of uploading the return by accessing 'RET > e-filing > view XML status'.
- The status of Uploaded XML file can be checked.
- Navigational Path :RET >e Filing for Return >View Status.
Select period and click submit
UPLOADED denotes that return is uploaded and under processing. Please view after sometime.
FILED denotes that uploaded return is accepted by system.
REJECTED denotes that return could not be processed due to errors. This return needs to be corrected and uploaded again.
New user-friendly features in the Oct. 2012 - Mar. 2013 ST-3 Return:
- Previously, the assessees were able to view the filed returns using the option, 'View Original ST3'. This facility has been enhanced with a new feature by displaying in the return, the list of error codes (with corresponding error messages). This will help the assessees to know about the errors so that they can exercise the option of filing Revised return by rectifying the errors. This facility will be made available shortly and the exact date will be intimated on ACES website.
- As soon as the return uploaded by the assessee is accepted or rejected by the system, a system-generated message will be e-mailed to the assessee. The assessee can rectify the errors and file the corrected return.
